Roche gives away SMBG

DIABETES MELITUS SOFTWARE FOLLOW ATTRACTING INVESTMENTS

AltaIR Capital Fund together with Runa Capital and other investors will send $400 thousand to the company Undermyfork, which manages the app of the same name for people with diabetes. This is a digital food and glucose diary that is automatically read from any wearable glucose monitoring device (CGM).

Funding is planned for the development of the app in the United States and Europe.

The Undermyfork app was purchased by Yandex. Undermyfork currently works mainly with US users, and the partner for CGM monitoring is the American sensor manufacturer Dexcom.

Undermyfork analyzes how sugar levels change after a meal and labels each photo with a safety label: green, yellow, or red. The color indicates after which meals the sugar level went beyond the safe range and for how long.

In the United States, the number of diabetic patients reaches 20 million, and CGM devices are common among 30-35% of patients. There are at least 8 million patients in Russia, but there is no information about their commitment to such monitoring.

In 2019, the Ministry of health was instructed to update the strategy for fighting diabetes, in particular, to analyze the need to install insulin pumps for children. Subsequently, the Russian Government allocated 2 billion rubles for this purpose.
